Bethel’s Lenten Offering this year will go to the wildfire relief efforts of the Southern California & Mission Presbyteries. These two ECO Presbyteries serve the greater Los Angele’s area and have been diligently working and partnering with trusted local organizations to give out gift cards and grants to people whose lives have been upended due to the recent fires.

 

These monies go directly to and through the local ECO churches to best serve and support their local communities in this time of great need. To date they have distributed approximately $30,000 worth of gift cards and provided $10,000 worth of grants to ECO churches, trusted partners, and damaged churches in the affected areas. 

 

One of the team leaders for the relief efforts shared this story with us:

 

“One of our most impactful stories are coming from the engagement of small Spanish speaking ECO congregation El Davino Salvador that meets around 5 miles from Altadena.  Pastor Edgar and Rosie Arle previously lived in an area that was devasted, and had an outreach to many families in the area.  They connected with over 20 families that had been impacted, many temporarily displaced, a few who had lost homes, and almost all who had local service jobs significantly impacted. It is truly God at work when one of our smallest ECO congregations has had such a big impact.”
